Yes, if she is pairing it with Eng lit and sociology, with a view to a humanities based degree, then it won't matter for uni. But if she is thinking of sciences at uni then I would deffo do maths. Either way, why make life harder in sixth form? WebYou will almost certainly need it for a Physics degree, and most UK schools wouldn’t let you do Physics at A level without doing Maths as well; you need that level of Maths to support the Physics. It’s not essential in the same way for Chemistry, though most Chemists do have A level Maths anyway.

So the maths in A-level Physics is pretty basic, doesn't really got past gcse maths, its really just arithmetic and ratios 99.9% of the time. The mechanics you learn is also pretty basic. You will be better off doing mechanics modules in maths.
