Webb23 mars 2024 · NO!!! You do not HAVE to get a RO system for your brewery. That water is not bad for brewing and is almost a blank slate (flavorwise). The only difficulty you'll have is when brewing more delicate lagers. If you're planning on ales with flavor, you are fine. Your main concern will be in neutralizing the high alkalinity in that tap water. Webb7 feb. 2015 · In my case I just started splitting up my brewing water. I'll use about half tap water and half distilled water in my brew to get a more balanced water profile. There is some debate as to what effect water softener water has on the overall taste, but without a true water test showing what's in it, it's really a guessing game.
Webb14 aug. 2024 · That makes sense. Thanks. Presumably I didn't know the full process for that particular water source (we had two completely different ones) at the brewery. I looked up some results I have - no carbonate, bicarbonate or alkalinity - slightly odd considering both water sources were limestone aquifers. I calculate approximately 9.5 gpg!!
