The jamming you experience may be the result of wear on the drive-end bushing that allows the starter shaft to deflect enough for the pinion gear to try to jump the teeth on the ring gear. And worn ring gear teeth will exacerbate that, of course. Webb18 maj 2010 · Today: Turn the key switch to start and the starter teeth just spins. I took off the cowl to have a look and the gear/teeth move up towards the flywheel when the key is turned but won't engage the flywheel and then the teeth/gear fall back down. The boat has two batteries, one of which is brand new.
